Reiki Treatments

Reiki treatments can be given with the recipient either seated or on a “massage table”, fully clothed. The practitioner works progressively around the body holding points and/or working off the body. A full treatment lasts approximately 1 hour. Shorter ‘taster’ treatments are available.
Since it is spiritual healing, no promise of specific results is made, the Reiki energy has its own wisdom, it works and transforms where and when it is needed. No diagnosis is made. Often the recipient enters a state of very deep relaxation as the energy flows and nourishes according to the need. In this state, one can see with detachment one's problems (if they appear). As with other forms of healing, Reiki can instigate a healing process, where the body/mind begins to cleanse itself of toxins in the physical or mental spheres.

What happens during treatments?
After a brief consultation your treatment begins.

  • Treatment is given either seated or lying. Hands are placed over the fully clothed body, either in contact or in close proximity with various organs, glands and "energy centres".
  • Reiki is usually very relaxing and it can be a good antidote for stress and tension.
  • Reiki is good for renewing personal energy.

How can I receive Reiki?

Reiki River offer treatments and training throughout the North East of England and York. To make an appointment or to book training, please contact Julie on tel: 07990 753300 or email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .  If you would like to experience a treatment, fees for all Reiki treatments are £40 per person, per session.  Treatment in your own home will be a little more depending on travel times/distance.  Please contact us for more information.
Quite often up to 3 treatments are suggested in short succession for first time recipients. Ultimately, one's active involvement in the healing process is most beneficial.

Reiki Drum Treatment Sessions

Combining Reiki and Drumming creates the Reiki Drum Technique, a method of utilising the drum to introduce Reiki energy into a person’s energy field to bring about deep relaxation.

Research has indicated that even drumming for a short period of time can induce an alpha state, brainwaves associated with well being and euphoria. Drumming helps people express and address emotional issues, aiding in the removal of blockages and producing emotional release. Studies have linked drumming with positive effects on Alzheimer’s and dementia patients, emotionally disturbed teens, recovery addicts and trauma patients.

Research demonstrates that drumming accesses the whole brain, synchronizing the two cerebral hemispheres, engaging both logical left brain and intuitive right brain. It has been shown to generate dynamic neuronal connections in the brain, even when there has been significant damage such as after stroke or with Parkinson's disease. Other studies have noted that IQ scores have improved with control groups after playing drums.

On a physical level drumming in studies has shown to alter endocrine and immunologic response in a person. Scientific research demonstrates that cortisol levels, blood pressure readings, heart rate and blood flow are all positively affected, natural killer cells are more active and drumming aids the production of endorphins and endogenous opiates assisting in pain control.

On a spiritual level, the vibrations of the drumbeat encourage mental, emotional and spiritual energy bodies to realign and chakras to become balanced, resulting in emotional and mental harmony. Our consciousness shifts and we are able to reach our true spiritual selves.

  • Reiki Drum Healing Session lasts for a half hour or an hour. The practitioner gently drums over the body of the client. The drumming is followed by normal hands on Reiki to help integrate the Drum Healing.
  • Reiki Drum Mental Reprogramming is a way of treating negative habits or natural tendencies. The technique can be used to overcome bad habits, to focus the mind on something important or for achieving a goal. Drumming facilitates the energetic shift necessary to positively affect the subconscious mind. The client focuses their mind on the issue in question whilst the practitioner drums gently over their body. After a period of time the practitioner incorporates normal hands on Reiki to integrate the healing.
  • Reiki Drum Journey is a technique to facilitate altered consciousness for the client to access information for change in any area of their life. It can be used for healing personal issues, career concerns, relationship problems, accessing the client’s inner wisdom and tuning into spiritual guidance. This technique can be exceptionally empowering and healing on all levels.

Fees for all Reiki treatments are £40 per session.  Discounts available for regular/multiple bookings/sessions.  Please contact Julie to make an appointment tel: 07990 753300, email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Reiki Training

Reiki 1st Degree

The 1st Degree Reiki Workshop takes place over two days and is given the Japanese name of Shoden, (meaning "Elementary/Entry Teachings"). You will learn the basic theories and procedures. Attunements are given to the student by the teacher which allows you to treat yourself and others.

Training includes:-

  • First Degree Reiki attunements
  • Exploration of Reiki history
  • How Reiki works and its many uses
  • Study of the traditional Reiki hand positions
  • Instructions for treatments of yourself, family, friends and animals
  • Guided visualisations and meditation
  • Reiki practice
  • Comprehensive notes accompany this workshop

Whilst the training is given intensively over two days, you are encouraged to devote time daily for the following three weeks for self-practice. This instigates a personal growth process through experience and the development of understanding/awareness. By applying the training for yourself and others, personal insight develops, thus fully utilising the connection to the energy made during the initial training. Keeping a personal journal of thoughts/impressions can be helpful in this self-exploration and practice.

A feedback report (worksheet/homework) is requested from you and when returned to your tutor your certificate is issued. After your supervised training, I am happy to offer support in your practice, to keep in touch by phone, email, letter or personal meeting and will endeavour to answer your questions in the months following your 1st Degree workshop.

Workshop Fee/Personal Investment £110.00 Deposit £25 (non-refundable)

Balance due at least two weeks prior to the workshop date. Payment by cheque, BACS or cash on the first day of training also accepted.

Reiki 2nd Degree (practitioner/therapist level)

The 2nd Degree Reiki workshop is given the Japanese name of Okuden (meaning "Inner Teachings"). You will learn about the symbols that enhance the strength and distance over which Reiki can be exerted.

Symbols are used to form a temporary connection between the practitioner and the recipient, regardless of location and time Reiki energy can then be sent. Another attunement is given, which further increases the capacity for Reiki to flow through the student, as well as empowering the use of the symbols. Once you have completed this level, you can work without being physically present with the recipient - a practise known as "distant healing".

Prerequisites:

  • The applicant has been at Reiki 1st Degree for a minimum of three months.

Training includes:-

  • Second Degree Reiki attunement
  • Exploration of the second degree Reiki symbols, their deeper meanings and functions
  • Use of the symbols: how to empower oneself, spiritual development, self healing and use in the treatments for others
  • Guided meditations
  • Methods of absent/distant healing
  • Comprehensive course notes accompany this workshop

The training is given intensively over two days, you are encouraged to devote time daily for the following three weeks for self-practice. This instigates a personal growth process through experience and the development of understanding/awareness. By applying the training for yourself and others, personal insight develops, thus fully utilising the connection to the energy made during the initial training. Keeping a personal journal of thoughts/impressions can be helpful in this self-exploration and practice.

As in the Reiki 1st Degree workshop, a feedback report (worksheet/homework) is requested from you and when returned to your tutor your certificate is issued. Students are expected to take their course work into their daily lives, keeping a journal of treatments, distant treatments, personal thoughts and changes in your life etc. Public liability insurance is also required as a practitioner of Reiki Therapeutics, for a student to be added to a Reiki Therapist Register.

Workshop Fee/Personal Investment £210.00 Deposit £50 (non-refundable)

Reiki Professional Practice

Introduction

'Professional Practice' is based upon:

  • Face to face personal attunement with a Reiki master teacher.
  • Experience and practice of giving Reiki.
  • Meeting the minimum standards specified in the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Reiki.
  • Ongoing personal practice (self treatment or from others).

The National Occupational Standards (NOS) and the Core Curriculum‚ do not refer to any one level or style of Reiki. It is a requirement that a minimum standard of training is received by the practitioner. The training will build upon existing knowledge and can be used as a foundation for those wishing to teach Reiki.

The context in which training is given or undertaken as follows:-

  • Training will total 140 hours comprising of...
    • 45 hours with their Reiki Teacher ie in person
    • 95 hours will be self study
  • Training will be over a period of between nine and 12 months and will meet the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Reiki and Core Curriculum‚.
  • Students will receive face to face personal attunement(s).
  • Students will personally give 75 full Reiki treatments and these must be recorded. Five of these Reiki treatments will be supervised by a competent Reiki Teacher or Practitioner, one of which will be supervised by the students' Reiki Teacher. These treatments are to include: consultation, client feedback and treatment evaluation.
  • Ongoing personal practice with a recommended minimum of 100 hours of Reiki being received (self treatments or from others).
  • Students will be required to take a test to assess their knowledge and understanding.
  • Students will be required to present all work in a folder for final assessment against the National occupational Standards. On successful completion of the specified hours contact time and self study together with a pass of test and marking a certificate will be awarded.

Assessment Methods

  1. Test Written Test of knowledge = 25% of final marks
  2. ObservationTeacher observation of five treatments to include consultation, evaluation, rebooking and record keeping = 25% of final marks
  3. Treatment log Personal Practice (log) = 10% of final marks
  4. Treatment log Treatments to others (log) + 5 observed treatments = 40% of final marks

Assessment of Evidence

The range of possible evidence sources, include:

  • Observations/practical assessment by suitably qualified person(s)
  • Case studies
  • Peer reports
  • Professional discussions
  • Video/audio recordings
  • Testimonials from clients
  • Product evidence i.e. records, diaries, logs etc.
  • Written questions or assessments
  • Verbal questions.

Notes National Occupational Standards (NOS) are statements of competence and are written to measure outcomes. National Occupational Standards describe good practice. Essentially, standards describe what happens in the workplace -- not what people are like and how to set fees where relevant. ‚A Core Curriculum provides a framework on which to develop courses, and should always be read alongside the NOS (National Occupational Standards).

Reiki 1st Degree, 2nd Degree and 3rd Degree workshops are available either one-to-one, or in small groups 2 – 6: please contact us for further information.
